'Sex' was worth the wait

i was one of many (and i mean many) gals and guys last night who attended the 12:01 am premiere of the Sex and the City movie in New York City. the looooong line was a mix of suits, cocktail dresses, and cute casuals. the AMC Loews on 34th st. was only catering to the long awaited movie featuring the show in all its rooms on the top floor. people were scrambling for seats dipping in and out of each room to make room for themselves. after waiting for about a half an hour to get passed all of the previews, the show FINALLY began. now i'm not going to give any of the plot away but i will say this... you will hear just about everyone say "i'm sorry", Charlotte and Samantha will have you laughing out loud, Carrie will make you say "i want those outfits!!", and you'll want to give Miranda a loving slap in the face. ok sooo this doesn't sound like a stretch from the series, but being that it's now a feature film, elements have been heightened in all directions in order to make the watch more enjoyable and fabulous.

on another note the 'Sex and the City: the movie' book comes out today. now i pre-ordered this week and it arrived to my home yesterday. luckily i did not see it until i was about to leave for NY so if i had even taken a peek inside of the book, i would've found out the whole story before i saw the movie. so note, if you want the book and plan on seeing the movie-- DON'T LOOK AT THE BOOK. it pretty much goes through the whole movie in a somewhat fairy-tale form with pictures, little side notes, and parts that ended up on the cutting room floor. OH!!! and the best part of the book you ask? it goes through each of the gals' outfits from head to toe letting you know the designer of each and every item. and you know these girls are wearing things that aren't even out in stores yet.

overall, it was great to see the ladies and gents of SATC. the show started when i was 16 years old and i can remember coming home after school and watching it (yes back in the 90's they played it in the afternoon). i was so influenced by Carrie that her career as a journalist made me want to become one. and now i'm a journalism major at Rutgers University hoping one day i can be the toast of the town and have people waiting to see what it is i have to say in print. i feel after 10 lovely, heartbraking, stylish, and fabulous years it has all come full circle. if this movie were to be the period that ends the sentence in all that is SATC, then i am very satisfied.

ps. check back later for pics

New York had 'Sex' last night

Radio City Hall was the place to be yesterday for the SATC New York premiere. people from Jennifer Hudson (who sings on the soundtrack and plays Carrie's assistant in the movie), Mary J. Blige, Fergie (who's also featured on the soundtrack), Ashley Olsen, Lil Kim, and the author of the original 'Sex and the City' novel, Candace Bushnell were all on board for the US showing. of course with bringing the movie home to its birthplace there were plenty of fashionable gowns that mixed metallics and lovely whites. it's going to be no surprise that gals and guys who are planning on going to the first viewing of the movie May 30th will be dressed to the nines. i already have my dress waiting in the wings...

ps. the after-party was held at the Museum of Modern Art with Samantha Ronson on the the one's and two's *ahem* Lindsay Lohan was nowhere in site.

get 'em while they're hot

at your local S&B you can find these cute t's and tanks for under $9. i picked up mine over the weekend and it's the "Carried Away" tee with SJP on the front and "Sex and the City" written on the back. i must say with this top in paticular it ran a bit small so you may want to go up a size or two for a more casual fit. at the store location in the Manhattan Mall just about 90% of the women were holding at least one of these limited edition pieces in their hand. so grab yours now to wear with skinny jeans and pumps, or with shorts and flats. either way you'll be oh so sexy.

go through Carrie's Macbook Pro

ichat with Charlotte, Samantha, Miranda, and Big; check out emails, iphoto, stickies, and play the game to unlock Carrie's HD. this is sooo fun i wish i had stumbled upon it earlier. Apple users and die hard fans of the show will truly enjoy this. HAVE FUN!!!

ps. this so makes me want to just clean out my MB and put a bunch of stickies all over the place lol.

FIERCE!

Whoopi Goldberg is going to be dressed for this year's Tony awards by the "i just want to put him in my pocket" Project Runway winner Christian Siriano. both parties have confirmed that the fierce designer will be working with the comedian. i hope he creates something slightly feminine for the pant and top wardrobe that Whoopi is known for. the Tonys will be held at Radio City Hall in NYC June 15 on CBS.

ooh vs. eww: Greg, the Real World Hollywood

am i the only one who finds this boy annoying as hell??!! i should be slapped for even watching TRW but i've been on it since season one so forgive me. but in just about every episode for the past few weeks the "chosen one" has gotten into a problem with everyone of the house mates. are the people who voted him into the show now regreting their choice? i truly hope so because this lying, pranking, panties thief is so wack. so my fellow Real World watchers, i ask... ooh la la or eww la la?

all day everyday "Viva la Vida"

i can't get enough of this song and "Violet Hill." i love this commercial and cannot wait for the album to come out!!

no bitchassness on Diddy's yacht

they're all smiles in this pic, but yesterday Puff put Naomi in her place causing the birthday girl to ring in her 38th year in tears. he held a party for Naomi in Cannes and apparently the two got into a big argument where Diddy demanded that she get thrown out of the party. well, someone had to do it.

Usher-ed to divorce court?

"allegedly" Usher's wife Tameka has filed separation papers against the r&b star. some people are speculating that the marriage was a big publicity stunt for mr. Raymond's new album.  others are also assuming that Usher's mother is playing a big role in the split being that she was against the relationship since day one.  i guess we'll just have to watch and see.

for more on this story click here.

i call shotgun!

well, is it still a shotgun wedding if the whole world knows she's pregnant?  regardless, the oh so pretty Alba and very handsome Warren have made it official in Beverly Hills without family or friends.  it's reported the bride had on a casual blue dress with her hair in a ponytail and the groom wore a white top and brown pants.  this comes a few months before the two will be expecting their first child together which is rumored to be a baby girl.  here's to the new mr. and mrs. Cash Warren!

the sexiest week of the year

Fleet week has begun.  so go to NYC,  grab a sailor (or more), and enjoy.  it's the least we single gals can do to show our appreciation ;)

America' got it right

i just finished screaming my head off once they announced that David Cook is the new American Idol. everyone believed David Archuleta would win because of his boyish good looks and the great tone of his voice. but Cook was definitely the rocker and was very original throughout the whole competition. congrats David Cook!!

'Sex' transaction is complete

i had no idea that tickets for the movie would be available for pre-order, LET ALONE sold out. my first choice was to go to the Times Square theater amongst all the lights and essence of New York City. but then i had to pause because both showings were sold out. no sweat, i was able to score two tickets for myself and my friend Danielle for the 34th st. Loews' theater. showtime is 12:01am on May 30th. see you then...

"Cold Shoulder" by Adele

i heard this when i was in Old Navy yesterday and made it my business to find the song.

ps... so happy she's a big girl!!

be a Bad Ass

there's a new line of Ass-cessories out there. when you put on their earrings (like the Blowing Smoke ones pictured above) you'll defintiley "stray away from the norm". get familiar with Bad Ass-cessories and bring out the bad ass within yourself.

Rogan for Target

i'm only writing about this because i was at Target today just to check out the organic fabric line. one word--underwhelmed. although i'm all for going green, this line is not what i expected. the fit was off and things that looked great online didn't look so good in person. this however is just my opinion... don't let it stop you from checking it out for yourself.

it's never too late

this post is about being uplifted and going beyond the grain. my mother who is *coughs* 50 years old began taking a certificate course for life coaching today at NYU. when she told me the news i smiled on the inside (but in natural style i never showed it on the outside lol). but i admired her for her courage and determination to go back to school for the summer despite her age, or the fact that she's a single woman taking care of herself without anyone's help. my mother always instilled in me that i should never depend on anyone-- especially a man. she's not a man-hater by any means, but she's realistic in knowing that things may fall apart one day and one may find themselves on their own to pick up the pieces. when i was younger everyday on the first day of school my mother would always tell me the importance of education and how i would have to work twice as hard because i was a female and a minority. i've always kept that in mind and i have the upmost respect for my mom. she also has the two factors against her, including her age, and she has refused to let that hold her back. congrats to you Mommy!!

n.3.r.d. ..."it's almost over now"

here's a clip of n.3.r.d. during their set about to perform "Rockstar". i would've had more to record if i didn't get caught with my camera. they were confiscating cams there but luckily i was just given a warning when i got a tap on my shoulder and was swung the big "no, no, no" finger. *sigh* it's so nice to be a girl lol.

not now Lily

so my girl is gone off the deep end--literally... sort of. after going blonde she has engaged in some "crazy" things. first she was topless on a yacht in France... ok so that's not too bad; everyone is naked in France. but then she was spotted in a club wearing a black see through dress without any knickers. hmm ok so that's border line crazy. but what puts it over the edge is she was drinking... drinking turns into drunk. some may say there's nothing wrong with liquor intakes, but didn't she just say in a recent Glamour magazine interview that she stopped drinking and changed her life after her miscarriage in January? oh Lily... please dye your hair back to brown because you're starting to hit Britney status--not cool.

NJ Glowed in the Dark

"Flashing Lights"

the show was craaaaazzzyyyy!!! i did my best to keep away from as much info about it as possible just so i could enjoy each surprise that was in store. so if you don't want to know about it, then feel free to just skip this and watch the video for a taste. for everyone else, let's proceed. the show opened with Lupe Fiasco which was a shock, but i guess it made sense. i'm sure majority of the crowd expected Rihanna to be the first to go on, but after "Umbrella"... but Lupe did his thing and got the indoor and outdoor crowd warmed up.

next to bat was n.3.r.d. seeing the trio perform was a definite treat since i've been a fan since "In Search Of" and i'm glad i got the opportunity to check them out. they had me glowing literally. all the jumping and "spazin'" had me sweating. then there was a special dude on stage spazin' to, well..."Spaz". he had on a hoodie at first and when he took it off and put his face to the video camera the projected on two huge screens, it was non other than Chris Brown. not going to lie, i felt like i was 18 years old all over again.

the group was followed by the lady of the house, ms. Rihanna. this girl is so gorgeous. i've seen her perform once when she opened for Sean Paul in NYC and that can't even compare to last night. the energy, style, and the choice to not lip-synch was very good. she also threw in some M.I.A. and Lauryn Hill tracks to mix things up a bit. but, I do have one question; now was it just me or did she not perform "Take A Bow"? i doubt i was that wrapped up in the moment to miss it, but i really don't recall hearing it.

and finally, mr. West and his spaceship Jane were out. watching his set was like being at the planetarium and following kanYe along with his portfolio of songs as the theme music. he was able to put his songs together and create a story that flowed so easily instead of just busting out tracks back to back. after performing the Grammy version of "Hey Mama" (which i felt like i was the only one who knew the song because i was the only one yelling the opening part out as he sang) he paused on stage and Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" played. i'm sure it's a part of his set, but being a Jersey resident with an auditorium of fellow NJ peeps, that was a cool touch (oh how i miss the Sopranos). kanYe's set ended with "Touch the Sky", so whoever missed Lupe before was able to catch him for about a minute for his verse.

all in all the show was awesome. when i found out about the tour i knew that i would be going one way or the other. i had great company and i was able to see acts that i always wanted to see in one night. if i could say one thing to k-weezy it would be "thank you" for all his music, imagination, even cockiness because sometimes you need that in this world to get to where you want to be. in return, i'm sure he would gladly say, "...you're welcome." ;)

ps.  pix and more video will be up as the week goes on so keep checking back!!

"Violet Hill" by Coldplay

this is the first video off of the upcoming album "Viva la Vida". this is already one of my favorite songs of the year as it vulnerably asks, "if you love me, won't you let me know... if you love me, why'd you let me go?" the video is a bit campy and reminds me of the group the Monkeys, but looks can be very deceiving--so listen and let the words take you along. glad to have you back guys.

Complex x lrg xCouvoiseir

Photobucket
Photobucket

you know when you get invited somewhere and you don't want to go, but something is telling you that you should. so you just throw on something cute but casual, go to the event and end up having a really good time? well, that's how the lrg party was for me; thanks to Mariella for putting me on the list :) the event was held at Reed Space in NYC and it was a good crowd. although it was hot as hell (literally) they made up for it by giving out free Couvoiseir drinks, having Just Blaze spinning, and being very generous with the swag bags. i got to meet Alchemist (such a sweetie) and made some cool connections. tonight is the last night for the three day event so if you can try and check it out.

for more pics go to our flickr by clicking here and go to the "glamorous life" set --> we don't do "jumps" lol

ps sorry for the blurry pictures, i just got a new camera and i am still figuring it out :)

catch a peek of Stylista

one of my first posts on fM titled "Tyra Banks = Superwoman" talked about the model turned mogul coming out with a new show where the Devil Meets Prada meets the Apprentice. well, here's a clip of the show and it looks really gooood.

ps. the winner of the show gets a job at Elle magazine and a full wardrobe from H&M... *sigh*

ooh vs. eww: BlackBerry touch screen

so i'm a techie, and when i found out about this new BB i was a bit torn. although touch-screens are cool, i like pressing buttons (take that anyway you'd like to). plus i have nails, i can't be worried about scratching or touching the wrong part of the screen. from one pic i saw it seemed as though the phone has no buttons at all. on this one, it seems to have the best of both worlds. but how do you feel about it? i know there are some BB owners who read fM; and my BB Curve is on my way to my home :) but enough about me. ooh la la or eww la la??

sooo what the f*** were they doing?

NBC's Sue Simmons dropped the f-bomb on live television this week. now is it just me, or did she sound very scary when she was cursing?

congrats Whitney!!

Whitney is the first "full-figured" contestant to win America's Next Top Model. it's about time a girl with jiggle got the top honor. even though i haven't been up to date on this tenth cycle, i have to say it surely raised the bar for the next cycles to come. from the very fashionable opening of each show, bringing it home to NYC, to the final two walking in a Versace fashion show.... this cycle was oh so haute.

free buzz

tomorrow is FREE Iced Coffee day at Dunkin Donuts. so tonight it would be best if you scope out your nearest DD's and get a game plan to get as much caffeine as you can!! and if you'd like to get me a cup i'm a coconut extra light extra sweet kinda gal ;)

Jane Blaze is getting her Nailsdid

Nailsdid have done it again. the UK tee line have previewed their latest shirt which will be available by the end of the month. their shirts are a big hit (the Ellay one is my personal fav). chicks from all over the globe hop for these so cop yours when you can.

London had 'Sex' today

the SATC movie premiered in London today. there are a lot of people wondering why it hit over the pond before it's home in NYC? well, the answer is that the gals are sort wetting the appetites of fans in other parts of the globe before getting ready for the entree in New York. it's been very clear that i've been starving myself for this movie; however i am aware of some parts of the plot. so i'm going to publish what i know and if i'm correct then you read it here first. if i'm wrong... then i was just guessing lol.

1. Charlotte really does get pregnant.
2. There aren't any "dream sequences".
3. Samantha moves to LA.
4. Someone dies... and i believe....it is.... Mr. Big.
resulting in
5. Carrie and Big don't get married.

i could be wrong... but we have 2 1/2 weeks more to go.

Pha-real

so here's what's going on with mr. skateboard P.; there's a remix out for "Everyone Nose" ft. k. west, Lupe Fiasco, and Pusha. i heard this on the Angie Martinez show today where Pharrell and kanYe were on chit chatting. sir Williams and Lupe will also be in an upcoming issue of Complex magazine. my friend (we'll just call her "M" because i don't want to get her into type of trouble lol) will be helping dress them for the shoot. when i get some juice on the two sexy stars i will definitely share.

sooo as i'm typing this i know a lot of you are at MSG enjoying the Glow in the Dark Show. don't worry... my turn is in 4 days!!!

mayBE; the calm before the storm...

1. Santogold "Shove It"
dope song, dope beat. so happy this lady is finally out and i can enjoy her anytime of day. her cd is amazing!!!!

2. Janet Jackson "Rock With U"
this song is so sexy, "talk with your body/ don't say anything at all." this is just makes me want to grab a guy and kiss him.

3. Consequence ft. kanYe West "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly"
not a new, but definitely a joint you can jam to anytime. the words carry weight, the beat is smooth, and it features k-weezy!!!

4. Cassie "Official Girl"
very relateable; what girl hasn't been with a guy and wondered wtf is going on in the relationship?

5. Black Moon "I Gotcha Open"
throw back much? lol this is a classic. i bump this in my car like it just dropped. i miss that whole time of 90's hip-hop :/

6. Mary J. Blige "Fade Away"
this tips the mood of the playlist. wanting to disappear feeling like no one understands or your just a big failure-sing Mary...

7. Danity Kane "Poetry"
who knew DK had this in them? i didn't. i love listening to this and closing my eyes just letting the girl guide me through.

8. Madonna "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You"
this describes a "situation" i've recently gotten out of to a "t". when you're in--blind. when you're out--reeefreeeeshed.

9. James Blunt "Wisemen"
i enjoy his cockiness in these lyrics. i love the intro because you think you're about to hear such a pretty song; not so much.

10. The Beatles "While My Guitar..."
love the Beatles. this acoustic song is so painful yet lovely and continues the moodiness of the playlist.

11. One Republic "Too Easy"
Ryan's voice is amazing. this is such a simple song and i love just hearing a voice and strings. close your eyes and enjoy.

12. Amy Winehouse "Some Unholy War"
this is a special version of the song. songs about that hardcore kind of love always catch my heart if i know the singer feels it.

13. Under the Influence of Giants "Stay Illogical"
our modern day Bee-Gees. the drums are sick and Aaron's voice range is ridic. you'd never guess it's a song about cheating.

14. Duffy "Stepping Stone"
get on this girl before she blows up. sort of like a blonde Amy w/o the drama, but definitely with the soul.

15. No Doubt "Sometimes"
off their first ever album. this is quintessential ND. Gwen's voice is so green; and the lyrics are so relatable these days...

16. Gnarls Barkley "A Little Better"
i can't keep telling you how good their new album is. this song makes me want to say , "Preach On Brotha!! Preach On."

17. kanYe West "Hey Mama" (Grammy Version)
i always cry when i hear this. we all know someone we can apply this song to--for me it's mi Abuela that I miss sooo much.

all Mothers near and far

mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, aunties, cousins, sisters, and daughters... if you've given your child or children the best life and love that they deserve, then fM wishes you a blessed Mother's Day. and also for those who have lost a Mother or a Mother figure, then keep the memories close to your heart and the light shining as if they were still here...

"...Mama
I wanna scream so loud for you
'Cause I'm so proud of you, and uh
Let me tell you what I'm about to do
Mama
You know I act the fool, but
I promise you [I'll graduate from school] and
I appreciate what you allowed for me..."

book club: Fabulosity

so here's the thing, i have a tendency of buying/receiving books and then they just sit in a nice stack in my room. so i'm hoping to knock these bad boys out by starting my own fM "book club". i'll just post the book up on here and if you have or would like to read it along with me then you can feel free to do so. there will be a section on the side keeping you up to date with what book is featured and you can feel free to comment about your likes/dislikes from each book. so book number one is obviously, Fabulosity. as much as i am aware that people aren't too much of a fan of the over the top mogul... i am a fan and am willing to read about ms. KLS. so check your local library or make the purchase and let's go!!!

the Hills x Rolling Stone

ok so i came across this cover yesterday at Hudson News in Penn Station. as much as i wanted to buy the mag to check out its contents, something about it just bothered me. i don't know if its Heidi, or the pose, i honestly have no clue what it is-- but i'm not feeling this. and the worst part is, I LOVE THE HILLS!

is that package for me? : Princess of the Posse

so my "Bamboozled Tee" quickly arrived to my home. i love the feel of the shirt and i was a bit nervous about the size, but it's perfect. i have it neatly folded and secure in my closet so there will be no harm to the awesome design. yay!! it's official... i'm a Princess...

check out the brand new P.O.P. website-- click here!!

kanYe > Entertainment Weekly

"Yo, anybody that's not a fan; don't come to my show. For what?! To try and throw ya'll two cents in? Ya'll rated my album shitty and now ya'll come to the show and give it a B+. What's a B+ mean? I'm an extremist. It's either pass or fail! A+ or F-! You know what, fuck you and the whole fucking staff!!! I know I shouldn't dignify this with a comment, but the reviewer threw a jab at all the artists. I just wanna know when was the last time you enjoyed yourself. If you can't have fun and lose yourself at this tour it's a good chance you're a very miserable person. I actually feel sorry for you guys. Your job forces you to not have fun anymore. Grab a drink, holla at some nice girls, and party bitch!! You don't know shit about passion and art. You'll never gain credibility at this rate. You're fucking trash! I make art. You can't rate this. I'm a real person. I'm not a pop star. I don't care about anything but making great art. Never come 2 one of my shows ever again, you're not invited and if you see me...BOW!! This is not pop, it's pop art!" - mr. West

is that package for me? : Sex and the City

i did my part during Green Week and ordered the SATC reusable dry cleaning bag. it's made of breathable material and you're supposed to use it instead of those annoying plastic covers that they put on your clothes when you pick them up from the dry cleaners. the bottom also has an adjustable pulley at the bottom. it's very wide, very durable, and very cute. you are going to want to make trips to the cleaners just to carry this.

if you would like to buy one or other Green SATC merchandise, then click here.

SATC x Oprah

the ladies, and gent, of Sex and the City were on Oprah today. it was a good episode that gave me chills when all four gals were out together on the couch. all of the ladies looked very pretty (but of course) and the conversations of the movie, and fashion, and romance just had me wishing that May 30th was tomorrow.
