Is that package for me? : Dangerously Beautiful

Today I received not one, not two, but THREE tees from Dangerously Beautiful.  Deviant Me from DB sent them as a thank you for posting about their brand.  But let me be the one to say, "Thank you!" for remembering bloggers like myself.  It's things like this that make it all worth while :)

New Fav Music Vid: "Who'd Have Known" Lily Allen

The video is a bit on the freaky side; however this would so be me with Michael Jackson. I never expected this sort of video coming out of the song which is very romantic and cute, yet Lily looks absolutely gorgeous...romantic... and cute...

Complex Fashion's Top Twitter List

Friend to fuchsiaMAG (and all around good person to know) Haize.Rava made it onto Complex Fashion's "20 Fashion Designers Worth Following On Twitter". She came in at number 11 and I can tell you personally she's a good twitter buddy to have. She's come a long way from being one of the many who never wanted to sign up for an account, but is now taking over the game. Congrats girl!

Jean Paul Gaultier is a Go for Target Collection

Can we say, "D-I-E?"  JPG is officially teaming up with Target stores for a March 2010 collection launch.

The same way Alexander McQueen and Anna Sui had thier muses, Gaultier will have his own lady of inspiration.  Can you guess "Who's that girl?"  Yes, (obviously) it's the queen of reinvention-Madonna.  Gaultier was very influential to her style during the early 1990's.

Well, we have about five months before the line makes its debut, but I can guarantee the blogs will be buzzin' with sneak peak pics.

essie's Winter Limited Edition Collection

essie has created three sweet colors for the upcoming winter season. There's Lollipop-candy cane red; Rock Candy-sweet treat pink; and Mint Candy Apple-a creme de menthe mint. All of the colors are yummy, but the Mint Candy Apple will probably sell out the fastest.

For Breast Cancer Awareness month, essie has released a special Yes We Can, Pink polish. According to essie.com, "a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC), a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women affected by the disease."

Reminisce: Raekwon ft. Ghostface Killah "Can It Be All So Simple" 1993

This is one of my top favorite hip-hop videos of the 90s. "I want e'rything/ Right now boy/ Word up!"

Barbie x Christian Louboutin Sneak Peak

Here's an (alleged) pic of the Christian Louboutin designed Barbie doll coming out soon.

In an e-mail from BarbieCollector.com, the new Barbie created by her "godfather" will have a "glam new look" which includes a new face sculpt, skin tone, and foot structure to fit into her four pairs of red bottom heels. Her shoes will also come with shoe boxes and cloth shoe bags.

There will be a series of three dolls and Barbie Collector VIPs get priority on ordering. So if you're interested, then visit the website to sign up.

I may be tempted to add to my collection ( I own the Spring in Tokyo and Kimora Lee Simmons dolls) depending on whether or not they release a doll with my skin tone... if you know what I mean. We shall wait and see.

ooh vs. eww: Playboy Remembers Farrah Fawcett

The gentlemen's magazine is paying tribute to the fallen 'Angel' on their new cover. Would this be considered a tribute or a sleazy way to make money for the publication?

The gorgeous Fawcett has appeared in the magazine a few times from 1978 to 1995.

Ok now, be honest, ooh lala or eww lala??

Kardashians Design for Bebe

Khloe, Kourtney, and Kim will be designing a spring line for the somewhat affordable store chain Bebe. Bebe is known for their feminine and sexy styles as well as their very voluptuous mannequins.

On Kim's website she exclaimed, "This is honestly a dream come true! We have always loved fashion and have wanted to design for such a long time and now we finally are!

I like these girls, and I commend them on their hustle, but I have one question. Why haven't they designed
a line for their clothing store Dash?

New F.T.C. Rules Have Bloggers and Twitterers Mulling

LAST August, Britt Aboutaleb, a New York-based blogger, wrote a post for Fashionista.com, a beauty and fashion Web site, about her visit to a Gap store where “cute boys” served her coffee while Patrick Robinson, the Gap’s lead designer, helped her select a pair of jeans. It was unclear whether Ms. Aboutaleb had received the $69 jeans free, but some readers’ antennae were raised.
In comments about her post, they accused her of being intentionally vague. But her online response to the comments was anything but vague: “How is it less than crystal clear that I went intending to walk away with gifted jeans? Must I put FREE in the title?”
According to Federal Trade Commission guidelines announced last week, the answer is — or soon will be — “yes.”

Madonna About Eminem, "Maybe he's shy."

In an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, Madge discussed her collaborations with Justin Timberlake on the song "4 Minutes" and with rapper Lil Wayne on "Revolver" which she referred to as "badass".

However, someone the Material Girl wanted to work with didn't accept the offer. That someone was Eminem. "I wanted to work with him, but he didn't want to work with me." Her reason for his decline, "Maybe he's shy."

Too bad Michigan's bad girl and bad boy couldn't come together for what could've been an amazing collaboration.

Louis Vuitton SS 2010

Today the new LV line for spring and summer 2010 premiered at Paris Fashion Week. For us unlucky fashion lovers unable to be in the same room of the creations made by the fabulous Marc Jacobs, fans of the facebook page were able to watch the show live.

Colors that stood out were bronze, lime green, sky blue, taupe and hot pink. The bag line seemed to appeal to the casual girl always on the go who appears as though she doesn't care about her image--but secretly she does.

The show is still on demand but only for a few more hours, so catch it while you can.

Tom Dumont Scores "The Providence Effect"

Guitarist Tom Dumont of No Doubt Fame (farthest to the right) composed and recorded the music score for "The Providence Effect" according to a No Doubt e-mail.

The e-mail goes on to say, "The Providence Effect," a major new theatrical documentary will change the way America thinks about teaching our children. It captures how one school in the inner city of Chicago, Providence St. Mel, has created the method and the environment where children learn to think and to overcome social barriers, family circumstances and financial pressures to become high achieving students.

Fame Kills Tour: Starring Kanye West & Lady Gaga [CANCELLED]

Live Nation released a statement yesterday that the Fame Kills Tour has been cancelled with no further explanation. Possible reasons could be the lack of sold out pre-sale tickets due to Kanye West's outburst during MTV's VMA show during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech.

Rumors have been swirling that the rapper will be going into rehab to handle some unresolved issues dealing with the passing of his mother.

Despite all of the drama and hoop-la, Fame Kills would've no doubt been an artistic and interesting show. Too bad it didn't work out.

Lily Allen is "Coco Cocoon"

Allen is "the face" of the new CHANEL line, "Coco Cocoon".

In the CHANEL newsletter Karl Lagerfeld proclaims, "I love Lily Allen. She looks a lot like Gabrielle Chanel and she is a self-made woman. She is cool, young and extremely witty. Photographing her for this advertising campaign was fantastic fun. She is extremely inspiring and is completely taken with the bags - with her typical English reserve!"

The new collection will be released in October.

I think Tyra looks great with the natural curls, so I give her a definite ooh la la.  What's your take on it?  Do you like her natural do (ooh la la)? Or do you think she should stick with the weaves, wigs, and everything in between (eww la la)?

Glamour Magazine: Gwen Stefani, October 2009

Gwen Stefani, one of my top favorite gals, looks soft and fresh on the cover of Glamour magazine.

As the magazine puts it: Like any good girlfriend, Gwen Stefani spills her secret style resources, her favorite chic cheapies and what she loves about her new Harajuku Lovers fragrance collection. She even hangs with GLAMOUR to talk about the husband and kids. Listen in—she’s as cool as she looks.

H.C.G.I.-Don Draper

I am fully aware that Don Draper on 'Mad Men' is only a character-but he's a good one. With his tailored suits, cigarettes, and liquor all mixed with lies and charm; he's definitely one to swoon over. Unlike Roger, Don isn't much of a talker, but you would waste your time just to hang around and wait to hear his chalky voice. You know he smells good, you know he would take care of you, and although he's a bit disturbed, you know you would do anything just to spend a moment in his presence.

Watch this video so you can find out exactly what I'm talking about.... oh Don, see you on Sunday night.

ps.
I would never act this way with a married man in real life...that I know. lol.

ooh vs. eww: Jay-Z, Rihanna, Kanye West "Run This Town" video

Ok, so I get the concept of the video, but I may have to give this an EWW. It's not a video I would watch over and over again and it feels like it's been done before.

I like Rihanna's look with the lace/net eye wear and beret, but that's probably it. I also like the dynamic of all three artists doing a song together-BUT (and I hate to say it) I think Beyonce's voice would've been a better fit for the song. Maybe there was a conflict of interest preventing her from being on the song lol.

So what's your take on it? Ooh la la or Eww la la?

Four Fashion Books For You

The first is British Fashion Designers by Hywel Davies.
London is a creative and cultural melting pot for international designers to develop their creative identity. London Fashion Week is renowned for showing an edgier breed of fashion designer, and for celebrating cutting-edge couture that pushes the boundaries of convention. This is the first book to embrace the whole of the UK ands its creative influence on international fashion. It is aimed at industry professionals, students and anyone with an interest in fashion. Both inspirational and informative, it will also appeal as a coffee-table book, being visually inspiring and modern. This book focuses on the British designers since 2000 who have made their influence resonate globally: designers such as Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan, Vivienne Westwood, John Galliano, Julien MacDonald, Giles Deacon, Matthew Williamson and Paul Smith. Each chapter is devoted to one designer and defines visually how Britishness informs their work, showing final collections, process work and studio space. Text in the form of questions and answers or running text illustrates each designers British influence and distinct style.

Luxury and art have never been more closely linked than they are in these early years of the twenty-first century. Virtually all the world’s major luxury houses have associated themselves with contemporary art through sponsorships, commissions, or foundations, and these points of exchange nourish the increasingly symbiotic relationship between fashion, art, and other design disciplines. Of all modern luxury brands, Louis Vuitton can claim to maintain the richest and most varied associations with the world of art. Included in this volume are Louis Vuitton’s important collaborations with an elite group of artists, architects, designers, and photographers, such as Jun Aoki, Shigeru Ban, Vanessa Beecroft, Olafur Eliasson, Zaha Hadid, David LaChapelle, Jean Larivière, Annie Leibovitz, Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince, Stephen Sprouse, James Turrell, Inez Van Lamsweerde, and Vinoodh Matadin. The book is structured as a seductive anthology of the house’s most visible collaborations. Critical essays examine and position Louis Vuitton’s patronage—under the guidance of Artistic Director Marc Jacobs—during one of the most fertile periods of contemporary art and design.

Book number three is a third installment by Nina Garcia (better known as one of the judges on Project Runway) titled, Style Strategy. In this book "fashionistas will not only discover a myriad of shopping alternatives sure to help them attain high-end looks at lower prices, but also learn how to maximize what they already have through maintenance, ingenuity, and creative style choices. Step by step, Nina helps readers honestly answer three key questions—What do I have? What do I need? What do I want?—before making purchases, so they can effectively eliminate any unnecessary spending."

Last but certainly not least is Marc Jacobs Advertising.
For more than a decade Juergen Teller has worked with Marc Jacobs on the advertising campaigns for each of the Men's and Women's Marc Jacobs collections, Marc by Marc Accessories and perfume lines. Teller's idiosyncratic visual style and use of unusual models has been instrumental in establishing what has become one of the preeminent fashion brands of our times. Reflecting the intelligence and individuality of the Marc Jacobs brand, the models have included Sofia Coppola, Charlotte Rampling, Meg White, Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore, Michael Stipe, Rufus Wainwright, Harmony Korine, Cindy Sherman, William Eggleston, Samantha Morton, Winona Ryder, Roni Horn, Victoria Beckham and Teller himself, among many others.
This volume brings together a selection of images from all the campaigns to create a single collection that marks the significance of this collaboration in both fashion and visual culture.
Photographer Juergen Teller was born in Erlangen, Germany in 1964 and has lived in London since 1986. His work in book, magazine and exhibition form is marked by an intriguing refusal to separate his commercial fashion pictures from his more autobiographical uncommissioned work. Teller's photographs have been published in influential international publications such as W Magazine, i-D and Purple and have been the subject of solo exhibitions at The Photographers' Gallery in London and the Fondation Cartier Pour l'art Contemporain in Paris. In 2003 Teller was awarded the Citibank Prize and in 2007 he was one of five artists to represent Ukraine in the 52nd Venice Biennale.
Marc Jacobs was born in New York City in 1963. He graduated from Parsons School of Design in 1984 with many of the school's highest honors, including Design Student of the Year. In 1986 he designed his first collection under the Marc Jacobs label and in 1997 he became Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton. Marc Jacobs International, LLC has expanded to include more than 50 stores worldwide. Jacobs splits his time between New York and Paris.
