Missoni for Target Pop-Up in NYC
Last week as I was walking up towards 42nd St. from Herald Square, I noticed some bright and recognizable prints sprinkled on the Met Life building. At first I thought they were just some ads for the upcoming Missoni x Target collection. But as I made a left on the corner of 42nd, I remembered that the space below the building was where brands like Pop Tart, and Cottonelle had pop-up stores in the past. After I put the zig zag puzzle pieces together, I realized what would be taking over that space next.
Beginning September 8th, b.k.a. Fashion's Night Out, the Missoni for Target store will be open to the public and they can purchase pieces from the much anticipated collaboration (while supplies last). You better believe that I will be one of the first in line to grab whatever I can.

Back at SELF for Fashion Week
Today I will be back at SELF to freelance for Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012. I can't believe that this time last year I started my internship and now I've come full circle as someone they can now rely. I owe a lot to this magazine for the great training and work ethic that they've instilled in me. I can't wait to be stomping the streets of NYC during one of the best times of the year in the fashion world.
Keep posted for Ramona Reports and my favorites from the shows this season!

Ramona Report: Vol. 2
If you're a fan of the show "Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane", then you know this man. Ed Libby, famed event planner, was spotted yesterday morning walking towards Chelsea. He had on a black suit and was chatting it up on his cell phone. As he was on his phone, he dashed across the street to avoid an oncoming ambulance, or firetruck. I can't fully remember but I know that there were sirens and urgency.
Libby has not only worked with Simmons, but other stars on his roster include Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez, LaLa Vazquez's nuptials to Carmello Anthony, and many other celebrity events and weddings.
About an hour or so later, I also spotted Jackass star Chris Pontius walking towards Times Square with a woman. Prior to my research, I was going to post that he was his wife, Claire Nolan, being that person he was with resembled her. But according to reports, Nolan has filed for divorce from the prankster a couple of weeks ago in Los Angeles. However, they (he and whoever he was with) were just walking along and talking, and he seemed pretty calm despite what's going on.

"MICHAEL" Listening Party in NYC
Last night die-hard Michael Jackson fans braved the bitter cold for hours just to get a listen of his first posthomous release. Held inside the Roseland Ballroom, people came together in the midst of what seemed to be a heaven for MJ fans. DJ Cassidy kept the music going while dressed in a Billie Jean inspired outfit, Jackson's biggest hits "Thriller," "Billie Jean," and "Beat It," came with full on choreography sequences by in house dancers, and in every part of the room there was a poster, video, wall, cup and napkin that read, "MICHAEL."
Besides the music from the new album (which honestly you could understand why the King Of Pop never released on his watch) the real beauty of the night was how so many different people came together for one man. While standing in the midst of it all, a thought came to mind and I wondered how MJ would've felt looking down on it all. I honestly doubt that he would've cared about the event circling around him, but I do think that he would've been more happy just knowing that he was touching everyone and in a small corner of the world, people were united while enjoying the madness and the music.

where did the vinyl go?
here's a pic of Mark Ronson dj'ing last november at Love in NYC. you know... spinning on the 1's AND 2's. when did djs stop using vinyl? Ronson did have an Apple laptop on hand, but he primarily used vinyl. the first time i saw a dj with a laptop was when Dj AM did a set in NJ circa the Nicole Richie years. so i figured it was a hi-tech new age type of thing. but lately i don't see any record crates... no nothing. am i the only one a wee bit bothered by the whole MacBook dj craze? i'm not knocking it, but it doesn't feel right to me. i need a fade, a scratch--something!!

Vogue Italia
so i FINALLY got my hands in this long awaited issue. i've scoured all over Penn Station in NYC and Union County in NJ to find this. but on saturday my mission was accomplished. i came across Magazine Cafe in NYC when i did a search for the mag on Google. i gave them a call and they reserved not one, but two copies for pre-order. they gave me a call on friday letting me know it was there and it made my day. i even requested a Naomi cover and they had it put aside. this mag is history and as a magazine whore i just had to have it. now i know you're wondering why i bought two copies....eBay baby! *sings "imma hustler//imma imma hustler homie..."

"wackness" movie trailer pt.2
this weekend was all about the blog-stresses; i met up with my classmate/friend Frances on sunday in Times Square so we could catch "The Wackness" movie. we linked up at the Hello Kitty Store (yes i get my Tokidoki pen, stationary, AND free Sanrio bag). the movie was really cool. the music used just brought you back to 1994. there's some NaS in there and a lot of Biggie Smalls. the plot line was simple, yet understandable. it covered relationships between parents, marriages, friends, and the ages. i must say the only con of the whole movie was Method Man's weak Jamaican accent. there was also a lot of weed action going on in the film. at one point i looked over to Frances and said, "This movie is so realistic, I can smell the weed. No wait... people are smoking in here." but i honestly did get so caught up i forgot i was in a theater. so if you can, check it out. it's very chill and you'll have "mad love" for it lol.
ps. someone ratted on the pot smokers and they were escorted out. "TIME TO GO!!!"

"Wackness" movie trailer
so this is my morning routine: the alarm goes off and i hit snooze about five times, then i turn my tv to Fox 5 morning news. so this morning was unlike any other as i laid in bed listening to what was going on in the world wishing i could just stay in bed. as i was listening i heard about an independent film called "Wackness" that takes place in 1994 and embodies the NYC hip-hop culture of that time--ok so now my eyes are open. then i heard the reporter say that Method Man and Mary-Kate Olsen were also featured in the Sundance Audience Choice winning film--i'm rolling over to face the tv. lastly they had M-E-T-H-O-D Man on the show this morning to interview him about his role--I'M UP!! the movie is basically about a teenage guy who sees a shrink and pays him with weed and i'm assuming encounters some journeys along the way. from viewing the trailer it seems to be a very interesting and entertaining film. it comes out next week and will only be in NYC.

record braking
the Sex and the City movie pulled in $55.7 million over the weekend bumping Indie into second place. the SATC movie has also become the first romantic comedy and rated 'R' comedy to pull in that much money in an opening EVER!! fabulous!!
now here's my take on the film since most of you have seen it already. if not, well...
i did enjoy the movie overall, but here are some little things that could've been worked on:
1. although i was happy they added a sista by bringing Jennifer Hudson onto the cast, she could've played up her role a bit more.
2. the fifth lady, New York City, was not displayed as much as it could have.
3. how many times were the girls going to squeal every time they saw each other?
4. i needed a scene with just Carrie and Stanford. from pics you can see that one was recorded, but didn't make it on to the screen. :( (or did i miss it??)
5. and lastly, Carrie should've gotten the wedding she wanted. it was Big's third and her first--so what was his problem? when he married Natasha, did he not have a jazz song playing when she walked down the aisle? wasn't that so "Big"?
but like i said. minus those small glitches and the movie is still whimsical, fun, and satisfying :)

'Sex' was worth the wait
on another note the 'Sex and the City: the movie' book comes out today. now i pre-ordered this week and it arrived to my home yesterday. luckily i did not see it until i was about to leave for NY so if i had even taken a peek inside of the book, i would've found out the whole story before i saw the movie. so note, if you want the book and plan on seeing the movie-- DON'T LOOK AT THE BOOK. it pretty much goes through the whole movie in a somewhat fairy-tale form with pictures, little side notes, and parts that ended up on the cutting room floor. OH!!! and the best part of the book you ask? it goes through each of the gals' outfits from head to toe letting you know the designer of each and every item. and you know these girls are wearing things that aren't even out in stores yet.
overall, it was great to see the ladies and gents of SATC. the show started when i was 16 years old and i can remember coming home after school and watching it (yes back in the 90's they played it in the afternoon). i was so influenced by Carrie that her career as a journalist made me want to become one. and now i'm a journalism major at Rutgers University hoping one day i can be the toast of the town and have people waiting to see what it is i have to say in print. i feel after 10 lovely, heartbraking, stylish, and fabulous years it has all come full circle. if this movie were to be the period that ends the sentence in all that is SATC, then i am very satisfied.
ps. check back later for pics
